Faulknor was one of 4 flotilla leaders of the Faulknor class.

Service

In September 1914, it was announced that the ship had been painted grey, and her foremost funnel lengthened six feet.[5]

In September 1914, it was decided that Faulknor should join the First Destroyer Flotilla as the half-flotilla leader and be fitted with a Mark II W/T set, longer mast, No. 2 set of flags and two additional signal ratings.[6] She was listed with 1 D.F. as of October.[7]

In late November 1914, she was to be moved over to the Fourth Destroyer Flotilla, possibly as half-flotilla leader under Caroline while Swift was to undergo refit.[8]

In May, 1916, she moved to become leader for Twelfth Destroyer Flotilla.[9]

At the Battle of Jutland, she was flagship of the Twelfth Destroyer Flotilla under Captain (D) Anselan John Buchanan Stirling.[10]
