Rear-Admiral John Casement, Royal Navy (22 July, 1854 – 8 June, 1910) was an officer of the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Casement was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1891.[1] Casement was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1898.[2]
He was appointed in command of the second class protected cruiser Æolus on 11 July, 1899, for manoeuvres.[3]
He served as captain of Goliath from January to May, 1905,[4] overlapping to some degree with an appointment to Duncan from March 1905 and lasting until December 1906.[5]
He was appointed Captain Superintendent of Sheerness Dockyard on 4 May, 1907.[6]
On 21 October, 1907, he was (severely?) injured while supervising the landing of a boom. Two days later it was reported that his recovery seemed rapid and sure and that he was "practically out of danger".[7]
Casement was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 15 January, 1908, vice Kirby.[8] In accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 8 December, 1903, he was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 2 January, 1909.[9]
