Service

Imperieuse commissioned at Portsmouth on 1 March, 1888,[6] under Captain William H. May for service on the China Station.[7]

Whilst serving as flagship of the Pacific Station from 1896 to 1899 the Imperieuse is said to have visited the Cocos Islands in search of treasure.
