Vice-Admiral Herbert Arthur Buchanan-Wollaston, C.M.G., Royal Navy, Retired (13 October, 1878 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Herbert Arthur Buchanan Wollaston was born in Kensington, London, the son of S. G. Wollaston, Esquire. He changed his name by hyphenating the last two names in June, 1903.[1]

Buchanan-Wollaston was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 January, 1899.[2]

Buchanan-Wollaston was promoted to the rank of Commander on 22 June, 1911.[3]

Buchanan-Wollaston was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1917.[4]

Buchanan-Wollaston was appointed in command of the light cruiser Calypso in September, 1921.

In July, 1927, he was appointed in command of the light cruiser Carysfort.

Buchanan-Wollaston was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 6 April, 1928 and placed on the Retired List on the 7th.[5]

Buchanan-Wollaston was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral 31 December, 1932.[6]
