Rear-Admiral Claude Congreve Dobson, D.S.O., V.C., ( – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Dobson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 March, 1906, and appointed to Monarch on 27 March, 1912.[1]

Dobson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 March, 1914.[2]

Dobson was appointed in command of the submarine C 27 on 7 April, 1914.[3] On 20 July, 1915, C 27 sank U 23 off Fair Island.[4][5]

Dobson was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1918.[6] He then started to work with small torpedo craft, and was awarded the Victoria Cross in recognition that on 18 August, 1919 his C.M.B. 31BD scored two torpedo hits on a Russian battleship in Kronstadt harbour.

On the strength of this success, Dobson was appointed to Osea for command of a C.M.B. flotilla on 18 December, 1919.[7]
