Admiral SIR Richard Wells, K.C.B., Royal Navy (3 February, 1833 – 9 October, 1896) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Wells was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 3 February, 1855.[1]

Wells was promoted to the rank of Commander on 12 December, 1863.[2]

Wells was promoted to the rank of Captain on 6 July, 1866.[3]

Wells was appointed as Captain of the training ship Britannia on 31 August, 1880.[4]

Wells was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 30 October, 1884, vice Brandreth.[5]

Wells was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 6 August, 1890, vice Graham.[6]

Wells was promoted to the rank of Admiral on 11 March, 1896, vice Carpenter.[7] On the occasion of the Queen's birthday he was appointed an Ordinary Member of the Second Class, or Knight Commander, in the Military Division of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) on 20 May.[8]
