H.M.S. Alacrity was one of two Surprise Class third class protected cruisers completed for the Royal Navy.
Service
On 8 October, 1911, she replaced Minotaur as Vice-Admiral Alfred Leigh Winsloe's flagship on the China Station, but handed back the role on 5 March, 1912. She was again flagship from 1 April to 19 September, 1912.[6]
