Formerly the rank of Inspector-General of Hospitals and Fleets.

On 25 February, 1888, James N. Dick, C.B. was appointed as Medical Director-General.[1] On 1 April, 1898, he was succeeded by Henry F. Norbury.[2] Norbury was succeeded by Inspector-General of Hospitals and Fleets Herbert M. Ellis on 12 September, 1904.[3]
