Particular Service Squadron (Royal Navy)

The Particular Service Squadron or Squadron for Particular Service was a formation of the Royal Navy. The Channel Squadron was, on occasion, also referring to by this name.

History

On 6 February 1896, the formation was return from Cowes to Spithead to complete with coal to prepare to steam for Bantry Bay.[1] On 21 March, the T.B.D. Opossum was to leave Sheerness to join up at Berehaven.[2][3] The formation operated around Ireland for a time, but in May it was decided that it was to be broken up.[4]
