Lieutenant-Commander Lancelot Percy Freyberg, (30 May, 1885 – 27 April, 1916) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Freyberg received instruction in submarines from August 1906 to June 1908, being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1907. Oddly, this was not followed by any service in the type. He was sent to join the battleship Jupiter until 19 April, 1910 when he joined Hearty for work in surveying.[1]

Freyberg was appointed to the battleship H.M.S. Russell as Gunnery Officer on 13 January, 1913. He was promoted in this appointment to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1915 and died when she was lost in April 1916 in a minefield off Malta that had been laid by U 73.[2]
