H.M. T.B. 7 was one of 19 first-class torpedo boats of the T.B. 1 class.

Service

In the summer of 1880 the Admiralty decided to deploy several torpedo boats to overseas bases. In July the responsible authorities at Portsmouth were "ordered to forward a couple of first-class torpedo boats to Malta and Gibraltar."[6] Resultantly, T.B. 7 was taken out to Gibraltar from Portsmouth aboard the troopship Tamar in August 1880 alongside her sister T.B. 9, destined for Malta. Upon arrival in Gibraltar the torpedo boat was hauled off the Tamar and put into the water before being towed to her mooring in the Camber.[7]

In 1881, T.B. 7 was listed as fitted for Whitehead and was the only boat serving out of Gibraltar.[8]

In 1895, she was one of eleven first-class T.B.s stationed in Gibraltar.[9] She remained at Gibraltar until sold for mercantile service in 1904. Her new owners renamed her Mosquito.[10]
