H.M.S. Magicienne was one of five second class protected cruisers of the Medea class completed for the Royal Navy in 1889 and 1890.
Service
She commissioned at Portsmout on 15 April, 1890 for service on the Cape of Good Hope and West Coast of Africa Station.[6]
