Life & Career

On 2 May, 1876, Pöe received the Royal Humane Society's testimonial on vellum for saving life at sea. It appears likely that he was serving in H.M.S. Topaze at the time of the deed being recognized.[2]

Pöe was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Captain on 22 July, 1891.[4]
