SMS König, 1914

Model by Frank Kaune

Launched in 1914, König was the lead ship of the most powerful class of German dreadnoughts to see action in WW-I.  Her 10 12-inch guns were mounted entirely on the centerline where they enjoyed optimal fields of fire over the broadside. She exemplified German excellence in producing designs which featured extraordinary resilience to damage with effective weaponry.  She fought at Jutland and resisted a heavy bombardment in visibility conditions that did not offer her much chance to fight back.
