Scratchbuilt 1/700 WL GrosseKreuzer GK10
Here are the first photos of the new Jef's Shipyards project.
For the moment, just the cutting of the first deck (WL) in 3mm hard polystyrene
GK10 near L20e,
GK10 is with the text. I return the face of the board with the drawing. (because copyright)

Nice start. Looking forward to more progress.
The drawings you use seems from published books, not purposely layouted for modeling. But 1/700 won't tell too much difference in that. |

:D
A thin balsa 1mm board is glued on the hull.
An other level in 3mm hard polystyrene is put on the wood deck...
That is the casemates deck (the drawing is on the other side)
The balsa glued had bent the hull. I hope that my pirate with his treassure righted the hull. :D

I never thought I'd see the day when a pirate surfed a GK10. Unbelievable!!

Casemates deck is screw on the hull in the axis of barbettes...
...to drill the casemates in the exact place
After cleaning the hull, I made 2 coats of varnish.
You can see barbettes & casemates holes, the 2 cutting lines on the deck are for the rightness of the hull.
The stem

Bases of casemates are glued
Finaly, I use isolator of 2.5mm˛ electric wire.
Isolator parts are glued
Casemates receive a coat of painting.
Now, I can adjust the casemates look.

I can already tell that it has elements of accuracy. Nice touch with the wire insulation for the shields! Extra points if the pirate helps further in the construction.

It's looking good - keep up the good work!
I don't know about anyone else, but I'm enjoying watching the progress on this!

It looks great, Jef. The Derfflinger is wonderful. The comparison in size is amazing.
